Welcome to a new month.

The work of finding something to send is becoming harder and harder to do. Today they distributed the metal boxes which will cover each connection on the individual lots. Therefore it looks like soon they will finish their work on Block 4.

They also were finishing the connection around by the pool. They were digging clear across the other lots and the street to connect the pool to the sewer system.

They were also continuing to vacuum the sewer lines that have been installed.

More tomorrow.

Carlos Alverez At various times the name Carlos Alvarez has been used in reporting the daily news. Carlos is the very competant supervisor of the sewer project So here is a picture taken just this morning. I finally cornered him and made him stand still long enough to take this picture.

Work has gone on today flushing out the sewers of gravel and dirt which got in during the laying of the pipes. They also started marking where curbs had been damaged by the heavy equipment during the digging in the streets. These will be repaired.

More tomorrow if there is enough to send. If not we will just say "No news today".

Of interest, there have been approximately 10,000 visits to our daily reports since they first appeared early in July.

Friday October 3, 2003

Work has continued today on cleaning up the park. They were still vacuuming the sewers. They also were working putting in the forms to replace the curbs that were run over and broken. They are going to pour the concrete in the ones they have completed today. No more digging in the roads, just some work on connections.

Terry Smith who has done probably almost 100 connection told me today he still has about 30 more to do. He has been the most active of the plumbers working in the park.

I may have something to report tomorrow. If not I will be back on Monday.

Saturday October 4, 2003

First, HOORAY for the Marlins. They just downed San Francisco for the fourth time and will move on in the playoffs.

Even though it was Saturday, the company from Key West who are doing the concrete work on the curbs repaired those that were damaged along Eagle Nest Drive and quite a few on Block 4. They are to be congratulated for the good job they are doing.

No more now until Monday.

Monday October 6, 2003

Well I think they have found the leak which has been bothering them, between Bathhouse 2 and the gate. They found an elbow that had been hit by a backhoe and cracked it. They replaced that and the inspector checked it out and said OK.

The remainder of the replacement of the broken curbs on Block 4 has been finished.

All of this should let them proceed with the black topping on Eagles Nest Drive.

More tomorrow.

Tuesday October 7, 2003

Final checks have been made on the sewers and no more leaks. The concrete work on Block 4 is finished. All that remains to be done is to finish putting the metal boxes on the check outs on the separate lots and finish the black topping of the roads that have been OKed.

Carlos said this afternoon that everything should be taken care of in the next two weeks. This is in less time than they estimated.

There will be many happy people in the park when they are through.

More tomorrow.

Wednesday October 8, 2003

A short report today.

Work continued on the clean up. Taking advantage of the slack time they installed two new units, one on Block 4 and one on Block 7. Tomorrow they are supposed to come back and work at finishing the blacktop patching which will help immensely in traveling around the park.

More on Thursday

Thursday, October 9, 2003

First the black topping group was supposed to be here but did not show. Practically all of the boxes which cover the sewer clean outs were put in place on Block 4. That was quite a task because the cleanups were at various heights. So they had to raise some and lower others. This was because of all the trouble they had with pipes and wiring that they ran into when digging for the sewer connections.

More tomorrow.

Friday October 10, 2003

It is only 2:45 PM and they have closed up for the weekend.

The blacktop people were supposed to come but that has been delayed until Monday. Some of the workers went back to Miami and some of them went fishing here. At least things are at a standstill until Monday.

More on Monday.

Monday October 13, 2003

A short report tonite.

First they had said that the blacktop company would be here. They did not show and Carlos said this evening that they were coming to do some clean up work and definitely will be here on Wednesday.

Today they just did some cleanup work around the park. We still have some lots not connected and are being RED TAGGED and not allowed to use the property

More tomorrow

This is my day to gripe. The contractor is rounding up and will be through ahead of schedule. But the cable company COMCAST has held off and would not work with the contractor. So today they came in on Block 4 which had all of the paving done, and dug a trench across the street and was putting in a cable. They have several people waiting to get their TV working.

At least Carlos vows that the black topping people will be here tomorrow.

The final work has been done at the sewer plant and tomorrow it will be turned on to operation. The old sewer connection has been cut off and the new lines will be operating.

More tomorrow.

Wenesday, October 15, 2003

I am a little late because we just had a little thank you for the work crew and our maintenance crew up at the pavilion. Every one seemed to enjoy it.

As I said yesterday the treatment plant is up and running.

Carlos got after the blacktop company and they were doing some work this afternoon and are supposed to be on the job tomorrow.

Kevin is having a hard time with Comcast. They are digging up the roads that were already black topped. Many people are disgusted with their lack of service. I hope they get their act together and get service to every one who desires it.

More tomorrow.

Thursday October 16, 2003

Well Comcast showed up today but what they did, didn't make for easy travel between bath house 2 and the gate. The reason, all they did was clean out all the fill that had been put in, so all we have now is bumps. I sure hope they come tomorrow with black top and fill in these trenches.

The men of the contractors did work on clean up and storing away some of the equipment they have been using.

The only bright spot was that the weather was a bit cooler and there a very nice breeze.

More tomorrow This report is early because everything is at a standstill because it has rained all day and they have had to stop all work. They did start to do some black top work but finally had to give up. They will not do any more until Monday. We are left with bad roads for over the week end. I was afraid this would happen. No more until Monday.

GO MARLINS!!!

Monday October 20, 2003

Good news, the black toppers were in here today and almost of the rough places between bathhouse 2 and the gate are filled. My guess is that those places will be finished tomorrow.

The contractors were working picking up things around the park which belonged to them. The overflow lot will soon be back to an overflow lot again.

People are beginning to come back for the season and new faces are seen every day. We will soon be back to normal with the first pancake breakfast being November 1st.

I want to say that I have been surprised by the number of people that have been reading our daily reports. There has been about 13000 people since July 1, 2003. It makes my efforts seem to be more appreciated.

Thanks

More tomorrow

Tuesday October 21, 2003

They have finished the paving up to the gate, around past the REC HALL and it looks like they are trying to finish up around Bimini Circle before they quit today.

Comcast has been in here with several outfits and have installed some new Cable boxes. I hope the black top people will continue tomorrow. They could finish up if they do.

Many more people are arriving back for the winter. Mail call has picked up considerably.

More tomorrow

Wednesday October 22, 2003

This report will be quite short because things are drawing nearer to the end everyday. They worked on the blacktop today and ran out of material with a couple hundred feet to go.

Of course when they get through there is curb work to do. But it begins to look like we can see the end. Those of us who have been here through the entire time will certainly enjoy that final work.

I will try to keep you informed but many times there will be very little to write.

More tomorrow.

Line-Blue.gif

Thursday October 23, 2003

They finished the black topping today and the concrete people were working on the curbing between bathhouse 2 and the gate.

The contractors were just cleaning up some of the things that were around the park. I expect that the concrete people will be here tomorrow.
That's about all today.

More tomorrow

Line-Blue.gif

Friday October 24, 2003

Very little activity today except they did put in some more forms where they have to replace the curbs.

With Fantasy Fest in progress in Key West although quite a few folks have returned to the park, things are very quiet here.

More on Monday

Line-Blue.gif

Monday October 27, 2003

Today has been a quiet day here in the park. The main work was done by the people repairing the curbs on the various lots. No concrete was poured.

The overflow lot has been getting clearer as the days go by. Some more of the equipment was removed from the lot and hauled away. As this happens, the winter owners are slowly returning for the season.

The first pancake breakfast will be held this coming Saturday, Nov. 1st.

More tomorrow.

Tuesday October 28, 2003

Uh Huh! You thought I had forgotten. No way.

HOW ABOUT DEM WORLD CHAMP MARLINS!!!

Carlos has left Rudy here to do the cleanup. Today he and one worker were busy cleaning up all of the broken concrete that had been cleaned out for the new curbs.

They were still doing some of the forms for new curbs.

Comcast was here replacing the old pedestals many of which many had been run over before and the contractors did a good job on many others.

More tomorrow.

Line-Blue.gif

Wednesday October 29, 2003

They started washing the streets where they had dug them up. They sprayed the streets and then used a roller brush to gather the gravel and dirt which had been left. Then they gathered up the residue and took it up to the overflow lot.

Comcast was back in the park replacing cable distribution boxes.

They still have to pour the concrete for the curbs.

Every day we can begin to see an end to the work which has kept us in a stir since July 4th.

More tomorrow

Line-Blue.gif

Thursday, October 30, 2003

They worked cleaning the streets again today. About 3 PM it started to rain and is still raining at 4 PM.

They still have to pour the concrete in the burms.

I don't have any idea what will happen tomorrow but I will have a message.

Till then.

Line-Blue.gif

Friday October 31, 2003

The big brush cleaner that the park was using broke down yesterday and the park used our street sweeper to finish picking up some of the remains that were left in the street.

Rudy, the man in charge now, told me this morning that they should be all through and ready to leave by next Tuesday.

Comcast and Bell South are still messing around and will be for some time. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't tear into our streets that are supposed to be done.

I think they are supposed to pour the concrete tomorrow. I will let you know if they show up.
